Crown Moulding

What is Crown Moulding?

In my practise I have met quite a few people that often have a surprised look on their face as soon as they hear that we install crown moulding for a living, and say sorry never heard of such thing, and ask to elaborate. Crown moulding is a very popular and well known architectural decoration and a lot of us have heard about it or have installed it in their homes.

I would still love to explain as best as  I can what crown moulding really is.

The word moulding describes a large variety of decorative trims, that we come across every day of our lives, and some of them make up a necessary finishing elements of our homes. Have a look at your doors and window openings as an example, they all have decorative trim framing the edges, giving them that picture frame appearance. Baseboards run along the wall to hide gaps where floor meets the wall and give it more appealing look.

Crown Moulding is not something that people come across every day and it's not on a list of basic required elements to complete interior space, which explains the surprised look on some people's faces.

Crown Moulding is an architectural element with a purpose to add architecturally rich look to the interior living space. It is attached to the ceiling and coming down on and angle to meet with an adjacent wall. It adds a beautiful finished look to any room that you might think of, there is almost no such thing as room that is not suitable for crown moulding. There are many styles available to suite any design of the interior space weather you are looking for contemporary or traditional look.
There are more specifics to it that I will talk about in future posts. You can also have a look at our WEB PAGE for more information.
